s
a child, I would sit beside my father and watch him paint. He
would buy paint by number sets for me and I would paint with him but I wasn't
able to paint like hIm. I grew up spending much of my time at out door arts
and crafts shows with my father and his friends who painted and created fine
crafts. My father
was also a neon tube bender by trade and I would hang out with him in his shop. I
loved the glowing vibrant colors of the neon. I think it is why I am so
drawn to dichroic glass whose use is a major component of my kaleidoscopes and
jewelry. Little did I know during those formative growing up years that
I was learning lessons about color, light and form that would define my own
work as I began to create stained glass in the early 80¹s. In 1985,
I discovered contemporary kaleidoscopes and directed my work exclusively on
kaleidoscopes until 2000.
n 2000, a growing interest in jewelry shifted
the direction of work. Drawing from techniques learned from attending
many classes and workshops in glass fusing, lampworking, sandblasting
and metalsmithing, the jewelry is a compilation of many different inspirations,
concepts and techniques learned over the past twenty years.
he focus of this website is my wearable art jewelry. Each piece carries
a connection to past work that becomes a common thread for future work.
Even with this common thread, each piece evolves from its predecessors
as they all are reflections of myself as I continue to change and grow.
